Usenet Binaries on iPhone/iPad (iOS5)

Why isn’t there a usenet binary downloader for the iphone or ipad?

I read over on sabnzbd’s forum that they are avoiding such an app because of battery issues. I have no problem plugging in if it means I can download on the go without having to bring a computer. This has already been done with torrents (even without jailbreaking): http://www.redmondpie.com/how-to-download-torrents-on-iphone-ipad-without-jailbreaking-tutorial/

I’m sure there would be a number of people willing to pay through Cydia to getting a working usenet binary downloader.

Please post a comment if you have any insight into why such an app hasn’t been created.

Seat Guru

This is one of those sites that you bookmark and almost never use, but when you do it can give some great info. If you fly often then you should be checking SeatGuru every time you fly.

The website starts by having you pick the airline you will be flying with, then the type of plane. From this page you will be able to find out which seats are the best/worst and which ones have electrical outlets.

SeatGuru

Also, I figure if you are a terrorist then this would be a very valuable tool. I DO NOT ENCOURAGE TERRORISM, I think it’s very very bad!!! Terrorists are just people that didn’t get hugs when they were little. Save a life, *HUG* a terrorist (before they have a chance to do something bad).

File Sending Service

Forget YouSendit and it’s limitations. Check out DelaFil.se. At the homepage you’ll instantly get an idea of the simplicity of their service.

1) Browse to the file of your choosing using the browse button (max 2 GB)
2) Enter the recipient email address
3) Click the button “Upload” to finish

While your file is being uploaded you get an upload counter letting you know how much has been uploaded. That’s it. Rock and roll.

Now, if i could only find a service that would send me a llama that easily.

Trackbacks

After finding a trackback comment on one of my posts, pecos and I decided to take a deeper look at what was going on. It seems that a company named trynewshit.com is trying to make some kind of mega site based off of other peoples’ blogs.

We came across this site which talks about another user’s experience:
http://blog.graydenadams.com/?p=42

Trynewshit.com states that they are just trying to create a place with the best content from the web and to help bloggers get new users. Who knows if that will work.

In the meantime, I will continue to agree with pecos that the internet was way better back in the early to mid 90s.

My Addiction

My addiction is something that has ruined my mind.
It really shouldn’t be call an addiction, it should be called aDiggtion.
I spend my waking moments waiting and hoping from more.
F5, F5, F5, I need something new.
Throughout the day things are good, new articles, new images and videos every couple of minutes.
My mind is satisfied by that.
As the hours tick by, as the east coast goes to bed, the new posts start to slow down.
In the wee hours I am lucky to get a couple of new articles an hour.
The whole time, F5, F5, F5, middle clicking to create a new tab so I can load up all the articles that I’m going to read ahead of time.
Once done reading the article, I just start over again, F5, F5, F5.
During this time I have done nothing productive.
My mind has absorbed random knowledge that may impress drunk friends, but nothing that will make my life move forward.
With every press of the F5 button my life ticks away.
My name is Pokey and have an aDiggtion.
